My Library · Family Guide

Phones & Tablets

Read a little, listen on the go, or take a story with you for later.

Start with the browser

No app needed

Open My Library in Safari, Chrome, or your usual browser. Choose a room, tap Sign in to My Library, and use your family account. You can request stories, read supported ebooks, and stream audiobooks on a phone or tablet.

Read ebooks on your device

iPhone & iPad

Apple Books

In the Reading Room, open a book and download the EPUB version when available and permitted. Find the downloaded file in Files or your browser's downloads, then open or share it to Books. The saved book can be read offline.

Android phone & tablet

ReadEra

Install ReadEra, then download an available EPUB from the Reading Room. Open the file with ReadEra or select it from the app's file browser. It reads saved ebooks offline without a separate library-server login.

Your place in the book: Apple Books and ReadEra keep their own reading position. A downloaded copy does not automatically sync its page or bookmarks back to the Reading Room. If EPUB is not available, try another format supported by your chosen app or use the browser reader.

Listen with an audiobook app

Apps are useful for listening with the screen locked and taking downloaded books with you. Both options below connect to our Listening Room.

Android phone & tablet

Audiobookshelf

The official Android app connects to our audiobook collection and supports streaming and offline downloads. The Android app is currently offered as a beta.

plappa

plappa connects to Audiobookshelf, our Listening Room service, and syncs listening progress. It is available on the App Store. Offline downloads require a paid feature unlock; check the app's current purchase options before buying.

Connect your listening app

1

Install and add the library

In plappa, choose Audiobookshelf as the server type. In either app, add a server using this exact address:

https://listen.home.waypointrealms.net
2

Choose the shared sign-in button

After the app checks the address, choose Sign in to My Library. Some app versions call this OpenID, OIDC, or SSO. It opens the shared sign-in page in a browser.

3

Sign in and return to the app

Use your My Library username and password on login.home.waypointrealms.net. Allow the browser to reopen the listening app if asked. Your audiobook shelves should then appear.

4

Play now, or download for later

Open a book and press play. For offline listening, use the app's download option when your account and app allow it. Wait for the download to finish before leaving Wi-Fi. Reconnect later so supported apps can sync your listening progress.

If the app will not connect: check the complete server address and choose the shared sign-in option. Your My Library password may not work in the app's older local-password form. Browser sign-in is already tested; the first full login and playback in each phone app still need a device check. Ask Garry for help, or use the browser meanwhile.

A few helpful details

Put My Library on your home screen

On iPhone/iPad, open My Library in Safari and look in the Share menu for Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and look for Add to home screen in the menu. The shortcut takes you back to this directory; it does not download the collection.

Streaming and offline use

Browser listening needs an internet connection and playback can vary when the screen locks. Downloaded books stay on the device where you saved them. Use an audiobook app for offline listening and lock-screen controls.

Kobo, Kindle, and other e-readers

Ask Garry to help connect an e-reader. Catalog connections and send-to-device features need separate setup; the browser sign-in does not automatically set up those devices.

Requesting new stories

Use the Circulation Desk in your browser. The listening apps play the collection; use the desk when you want something added.
